Coastal Distribution is the distributor for Coastal-Vokey boats in Canada and the US. The project involved building a multi-region and multi-currency Shopify site with cool custom features and support for B2B pricing/ordering.
Challenges
Coastal Distribution needed to launch a new boat brand into the US market as well as recruit dealers in the US and Canada. The site needed to both wow and educate consumers and dealers, with different dealer pricing levels for different regions and product types. Customers needed to visualise their boat taking shape as they add options to cart.
Project Features
The project involved building a complex Shopify site with substantial customisation, including:
- Different US and Canadian domains to automatically switch users between regions and currencies
- A mix of fixed and exchange-rate-based US product prices
- B2B support for dealers, with different discount levels for different countries and product groups
- "Get a Dealer Quote" form with checkout hidden for B2C customers
- A visual Build-a-Boat feature to show accessories being added to boats as users add products to cart
- Filtering of products by boat compatibility and product features
- Automatic pre-selection of product variants based on users' cart contents
- Country-aware Dealer Directory with contact form to message to specific dealers
- Add-on option package products for boats
- Product bundles that include specific variants of other products
- Multi-tab product collections within a single featured collection row
- Dynamically-generated product comparison tables using product data
- Dynamically generated product specification blocks for product pages
- Writing detailed "Buyer's Guide" articles to educate users and promote relevant products
- Optimisation of the site for SEO
