Dam Docks is Canadian manufacturer of modular floating docks. The project involved building a multi-region/multi-currency Shopify site with a visual Design-a-Dock tool, and different price levels for retail vs dealers
Challenges
Dam Docks needed to launch their floating dock products into the Canadian and US markets. As well as supporting multi-currency and different prices for B2C and B2B customers, the site needed allow users to visualise their floating docks before ordering.
Project Features
The project involved building a Shopify website with unique custom features, including:
- Support for currency and region switching
- Different price levels and payment terms for dealers
- A visual Design-a-Dock tool enabling customers see their dock take shape as they add products to Cart
- Real-time calculations to determine the minimum dock length needed based on water depths, boat size, and maximum safe incline for sloping sections
- Rules to prevent users from joining incompatible dock sections together
- Multiple add-to-cart for add-on products
- Contact form that automatically includes a list of user's Cart contents
- Optimisation of the site for SEO
